Power and water

Aligned's press release of September 10, 2026 says the campus will use its own dedicated onsite power source rather than the local electrical grid, next to the Shippingport Power Station, a former coal plant being redeveloped as a natural gas energy campus, and expects excess power to flow back to the grid once completed. The release describes a 2 GW campus; the Data Center Dynamics report of February 2026 gives no campus MW figure.

Notes on the record

Aligned's Project Phoenix campus in the Shippingport Industrial Park, a former coal-plant site. Aligned's press release of September 10, 2026 describes a 2 GW campus spanning three facilities and announces the groundbreaking that day. Data Center Dynamics reported in February 2026 that Aligned was then planning two natural-gas-powered buildings within the 660-acre industrial park, with construction possibly starting later in 2026. The 660 acres is the size Data Center Dynamics gives for the whole industrial park, not a campus figure, so no land area is recorded; Marcellus Drilling News reports Aligned bought 650 acres from Frontier Group of Companies in July 2026 for $223 million.
