The Tonawanda Seneca Nation, whose territory borders the site, wrote in April 2025 that it "strongly opposes any allocation of low-cost hydropower to a data center at STAMP"; more than 100 environmental, faith and human rights organizations plus 500 individuals statewide signed a letter opposing the project, and Stream's FIRST, smaller STAMP proposal was cancelled following a lawsuit by the Nation. The earlier proposal drew "nearly 800 written comments, 50 spoken comments made at a public hearing."
