Power and water

Built by Yahoo on a New York Power Authority low-cost hydropower allocation of 15 MW at the outset of construction, with an additional 1 MW approved by NYPA in April 2011 for the second phase.

Yahoo's famous "Chicken Coop" design: chillerless, cooled by outside air ~99% of the year with direct evaporative cooling as backup in summer heat, achieving a PUE of 1.08. Not independently reconfirmed as unchanged since the 2025 H5 acquisition.

Built by Yahoo in 2010 (opened at 155,000 sq ft, expanded since); campus totals 409,200 sq ft / 43 acres SHARED with the separate H5 Buffalo II building (~0.25 mi away, see that record). H5 Data Centers acquired both Lockport buildings from Yahoo in a sale-leaseback deal that closed Dec 30, 2024 ($49M reported); Yahoo signed a 5-year leaseback and remains a tenant on-site (140 staff retained, 15 transferred to H5). Now multi-tenant Tier III colocation, though no tenants beyond Yahoo are independently confirmed. Critical power was 16 MW as of 2014; current total post-expansion not independently disclosed, so capacityMw is deliberately omitted rather than guessed.
