Power and water

Epoch AI lists American Electric Power as the campus's energy company. Crusoe's March 2025 announcement describes a 1.2 GW grid interconnection for the campus. Ten on-site gas turbines with a combined site rating of 360.5 MW are registered under TCEQ Standard Permit 177263 (TCEQ's technical review says they are to "generate power for onsite use only for data centers and computing") and, as of October 2026, are tracked separately as Crusoe Abilene on-site gas generation (Project Ludicrous).

Direct-to-chip liquid cooling with a zero-water-evaporation closed-loop system (per Measured AI, ~12,625 gallons per building per year). Mayor stated the facility would use less than 1% of Abilene's daily water. No daily water-use figure is recorded, only per-building annual volume disclosed.

Also known as the Lancium Clean Campus. Lancium announced the site in December 2021 as a Clean Compute Campus that would host Bitcoin mining and other energy-intensive applications; Crusoe has since built an eight-building AI campus on it. Oracle gives the campus as 1,100 acres; the 2021 announcement gave about 800. Epoch AI describes the AI chips as owned by Oracle and used by OpenAI. Taylor Central Appraisal District's 2026 roll (Texas appraises property as of 1 January) lists Lancium entities as owners of the land, buildings and campus substations; Crusoe-managed entities as owners of each building's "MEP" accounts; and Oracle America as owner of computer equipment for "BUILDING 1 & 2" only, valued at $3.43 billion. Business Insider reported in July 2025 that Crusoe "has committed to spending up to $3.5 billion to build the data center site in exchange for its property tax abatement"; that is a commitment under the abatement agreements, not a reported project cost, so no investment figure is recorded here. Crusoe, Blue Owl Capital and Primary Digital Infrastructure describe the campus as funded by a "$15 billion joint-venture" (May 2025); the release does not split the figure into debt and equity or state a total project cost. Newmark said it arranged a $7.1 billion construction loan, led by JP Morgan, for the second phase.
