Opposition and litigation at this site
Nothing on record as of August 31, 2026. No lawsuit, organized opposition, or contested hearing over Meta Mesa Data Center in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona appears in the sources this registry tracks. That is an absence in our sources rather than a finding that none exists, and local opposition often predates any coverage a national dataset would pick up.

Power and water
Meta partnered with SRP and Ørsted for a portfolio of solar-plus-battery projects to reach 100% renewable for the Mesa data center: majority offtake of the 300 MW Eleven Mile Solar Center (Pinal County), a 50 MW allocation from the 100 MW West Line Solar Facility (Eloy).
Meta has not named the cooling technology for Mesa. Its community development manager for the campus said that 'for more than half the year we can take air from outside to help cool our servers in lieu of continual water use', and that water is recycled several times before discharge to the municipality. The City of Mesa Sustainable Water Service Agreement provides a Water Allowance rising from 550 acre-feet/year at Phase 1 to 1,400 acre-feet/year at Phase 3. Meta's fleet-wide description of newer direct-to-chip closed-loop designs does not apply to this site, which broke ground in 2021.
Notes on the record
Meta data center at 3841 S Ellsworth Rd in the Elliot Road Technology Corridor, Mesa, Maricopa County, land acquired 2021 (shell entity 'Redale LLC'), came online in 2025, and was redesigned for AI workloads during construction (baxtel). Meta states 'more than $1 billion' invested in Arizona. No site-specific IT-load MW is disclosed. Coordinates are an approximate geocode of the disclosed Ellsworth Rd address; a county-parcel pass could upgrade precision to exact.
What the record does not establish, and the document that would
In every fight on our tracker the decisive fact came out of a public records request. These are the requests for this site.
- Cooling method and water use
- Tax abatements or other public subsidy
- How the community has received it
Which document closes each gap
- Cooling method and water use
- The water service agreement, any groundwater appropriation permit, and the mechanical narrative in the site plan.
- Tax abatements or other public subsidy
- The abatement, PILOT, or development agreement approved by the county, city, or development authority, and the state's data center sales tax exemption certificate if one was issued.
- How the community has received it
- Planning commission and governing body minutes, public comment records, and any petition or lawsuit filed in the county.
Have one of these documents? Send it to us and we will add it to the record with attribution.

Distances are between recorded coordinates, many of which are a city or county centroid, so treat them as approximate. Cumulative load on one utility and one aquifer is the question a planning commission rarely asks.
