Originally proposed Dec 2021 as Lancium's "Project Artemis", a Bitcoin-mining and grid-demand-response campus using stranded/curtailed West Texas wind and solar power, with Lancium throttling load during ERCOT peak demand. Crusoe Energy has since built and operates AI/HPC data-center buildings on the site (publicly branded "Stargate Site 1"), with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as the tenant hosting NVIDIA GPU clusters for OpenAI's Stargate project, Oracle sits contractually between Crusoe and OpenAI; no confirmed direct OpenAI-Crusoe lease. Lancium retains land/electrical-infrastructure ownership; Crusoe leases and operates part of an approximately 800-1,000-acre campus.
