Proposed crypto-mining buildout in Cascade's industrial park (east of Industrial St SE / north of Industrial Ct SE), Oak Hill neighborhood. Simple Mining purchased 15 acres; ~5 acres would host the mining facility itself. Backed by Cascade Economic Development Corporation; city would receive $40,000/yr per the proposed agreement. Still required city council approval of a building permit as of the most recent reporting I could fetch, status kept at 'proposed', not 'permitted'. Targeted construction 'late spring or early summer' [2026] with an operations goal of Dec 31, 2026. Two independently-fetched local outlets DISAGREE on scale (30 containers @150 sq ft per Telegraph Herald vs. 40 containers @160 sq ft per Eagle 102.3FM) and neither gives a company-confirmed MW figure, one outlet offered its own estimate of '10 and 40 megawatts based on industry standards,' which I'm treating as a reporter's inference, not a sourced fact, so capacityMw is omitted. Used 'reported' rather than 'confirmed' confidence given the factual inconsistency between the two outlets and the still-pending approval. ~6-8 jobs expected.
