Woodbury County residents sued the City of Salix in August 2026 asking a court to void the annexation as defective, alleging four of five applications covered land not adjoining city borders, no required county consultation, no 14-day written notice to adjacent landowners, and no proper boundary maps. Salix City Council voted 3-2 on 2026-07-08 to explore its own moratorium, with formal language set for a 2026-08-12 vote.
