NYISO load queue #1754 (EKG Group LLC, 'Kenwood Tech Center') lists National Grid as the connecting utility. The 180 MW request is a whole-site study ceiling for the mixed-use development; the developer says the data center itself could use up to 100 MW and would be on its own meter.

CBS6 reports the developer describes "cooling that repurposes heat for local use rather than consuming water." WAMC (August 2026) reports the developers said the data center will use an air-cooling system that will not require lots of water. As of October 2026, none of the cited articles says whether the cooling uses a recirculating water circuit, and none gives a water figure, so the heat-rejection method is unresolved.

Notes on the record

Proposed data center inside a mixed-use redevelopment of the 76-acre former Kenwood convent / Doane Stuart School property in Albany. No capacity is recorded: "Guild Ventures... filed an application with the New York Independent System Operator to use 180MW for the project," but the developer told CBS6 the 180 MW is "a theoretical ceiling for the entire mixed-use development" at full buildout and not the data center's expected use. Recording 180 as the facility's capacity would therefore be wrong. CBS6 reported in July 2026 that the developer has said the data center could use up to 100 MW; that is a ceiling, not a planned total, and at an August 2026 community meeting the developers said they did not yet know how many megawatts the data center would need (WAMC), so it is not recorded either. WAMC (August 2026) also reports the developers project a 250,000-square-foot data center with 125 to 175 full-time jobs and an online date of December 2028; these are developer projections and no size or job figure is recorded. The Rockefeller Institute's tracker separately describes it as "a 180 MW data center as part of a mixed-use development" - that reading conflicts with the developer's own clarification, which is why the record is marked reported. The developer describes the compute component as a "boutique, edge-scale colocation center" on "approximately 5 acres" of the 76-acre parcel serving hospitals, institutions, nanotech, government services and local employers - hence the mixed-use AI classification. The 76-acre figure is the whole redevelopment parcel, not the data center footprint. As of 2026-09-09, no permits had been submitted to the City of Albany per the reporting retrieved, and the May 2026 CBS6 article gives no investment figure and states no job counts, utility, or IDA/PILOT agreement.
