Opposition and litigation at this site

Nothing on record as of October 15, 2026. No lawsuit, organized opposition, or contested hearing over Midwest Digital Gateway (Central Avenue SE, Canton) in Canton, Stark County, Ohio appears in the sources this registry tracks. That is an absence in our sources rather than a finding that none exists, and local opposition often predates any coverage a national dataset would pick up.

If you live near this site and something is happening that this page does not show, that is worth telling us. Send us the document and it goes in the record with the source attached. For sites where opposition is already established, see every contested site we track.

A new status, a permit, a reception finding, or a lawsuit. Nothing else, ever.

Notes on the record

Project specifics (developer, name, 312 MW, ~162 acres, $2.9B, AWS described only as 'likely customer' with no lease confirmed) rest on a single trade-press source, hence the record is marked reported. That article also says ~163.5 acres were annexed into Canton from Canton Township; Spectrum's Jul 2026 zoning story quotes a resident on a proposed 161-acre center but does not name the project, so it corroborates scale only. Coordinates are the Nominatim centroid of the City of Canton (no street address published; the site is in SE Canton near Millerton St SE / Central Ave SE, so the pin is several km off), hence approximate. Unresolved: (1) aggregator listings attribute 'Midwest Digital Gateway' to DAMAC Digital; the Stark County Auditor record (parcel 10020089) shows DAMAC DIGITAL SOLUTION OHIO LLC bought an 8-parcel package from AIDC CANTON 2 LLC on 2025-12-31 for $36.5M, but that parcel is on TRUMP AVE SE, not Central Ave SE, so DAMAC's holding looks like a separate site (Spectrum mentions a data center 'being built on Trump Ave'), not this record; (2) Panattoni's 'Project Shelby' (324 MW, former Ford forge site south of Georgetown Rd NE, Aug 2026) is a different NE-Canton site and is not this record. As of October 2026, the developer/owner of the Central Ave parcel is not confirmed against Stark County Auditor transfers (buyer reportedly 'MDG-Canton Purchaser LLC').

What the record does not establish, and the document that would

In every fight on our tracker the decisive fact came out of a public records request. These are the requests for this site.

Permanent jobs promised
The economic development application or incentive agreement, which usually states a job commitment and a clawback.
How the community has received it
Planning commission and governing body minutes, public comment records, and any petition or lawsuit filed in the county.
Which utility serves it
The electric service agreement or the utility's filing with the state public utility commission.

Distances are between recorded coordinates, many of which are a city or county centroid, so treat them as approximate. Cumulative load on one utility and one aquifer is the question a planning commission rarely asks.
