Texas-based TA Infrastructure filed a permit application to place Bitcoin-mining computers, collectively drawing 1.4 MW, inside a shipping container on a gravel pad at oil producer Hilcorp's Endicott field on Alaska's North Slope, powered by natural gas from Hilcorp's existing generators. Per the application quoted in the source: "The goal of this pilot project is to demonstrate the ability to operate computers and associated data center infrastructure in the unique environment of the North Slope as well as identify any logistical and operational challenges that a larger project might present." The application named a four-year run with a permit start date of November 2024. Petroleum News reported on 5 January 2025 that the Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil and Gas approved the land use permit on 19 December 2024, for a 10-foot by 40-foot module on the Satellite Drilling Island in the Duck Island unit; the division said a fifth year may be used for testing if necessary. As of October 2026, no source found confirms the container was deployed, so status is permitted rather than operational. This is a separate project from the Stak Energy North Slope Data Center record in this dataset (as of September 2026): different named operator, different declared scale (a 1.4 MW pilot container versus a proposal described elsewhere as a "massive AI data center"), and reported about 18 months earlier, not a duplicate. Endicott field's own coordinates could not be resolved: OSM Nominatim's only match for "Endicott" in Alaska was Endicott Arm, a fjord near Juneau over 1,500 km from the North Slope, which was checked and rejected as clearly wrong. The pin used instead is Prudhoe Bay, the nearest well-mapped North Slope hub, as an explicit regional approximation; it is not the specific causeway or gravel-pad location, which could not be geocoded.
