Conversion of the former Appalachian Power Company office building into a ~60,000 sq ft Tier III-quality data center, announced 2024-10-30 as Alpha Technologies' new headquarters, expanding from the company's existing South Charleston site. As of September 2026, the only dated primary source retrieved (WCHS, published 2024-10-30) reports construction starting mid-November 2024 with phase 1 targeted for completion by March 2025; unverified secondary summaries suggest the conversion may since be complete, but no dated 2025/2026 primary source confirming operational status had been retrieved, so the status remains under construction. As of October 2026, the operator's ALPHA CLOUD page lists the Huntington site as Alpha Innovations Data Center 3, at 1125 6th Avenue, but gives no opening date or operational status. As of October 2026, Downtown Huntington Partners also gives 1125 6th Avenue, as does WV MetroNews/DCD (not independently verified as of September 2026); WCHS gives 1225 Sixth Avenue, citing a news release from Huntington Mayor Steve Williams' office, and the Census geocoder resolves 1225 6th Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701 as a valid address. The recorded street address is 1125 6th Avenue; the pin was geocoded from 1225 6th Avenue and is approximate. $10M was the announced initial investment for this site.
