Proposed 115 MW crypto mine adjacent to the coal-fired Merom Generating Station in Sullivan County. Announced May 2022 ($50M, up to 15 jobs, liquid cooling, 115 MW from WIN Energy). Powering-up was reported in 2023, but in December 2023 AboutBit's CEO walked back the 2022 timeline and denied a link to the plant's continued operation; current operational status is unconfirmed. Staged as proposed pending a fresh primary source. Coordinates approximate. SOURCE CONFLICT RESOLVED 2026-08-08: two claims contradicted this record, Earthjustice (Oct 2023) described the site as operating since 2022, and a Baxtel listing tagged it "withdrawn before construction". Neither is supported. Global Energy Monitor's Cryptomining Tracker entry, the most rigorous of the three, still read "is a proposed 115 MW cryptocurrency mine" in its 2025-01-22 snapshot (gem.wiki serves 403 to fetchers, so the archived copy is cited). The status stays "proposed" and no evidence was found that the mine was ever energized. Location upgraded from a Merom town-level guess to GEM's plotted address.
