Opposition and litigation at this site

Nothing on record as of October 13, 2026. No lawsuit, organized opposition, or contested hearing over AAIM Data Centers, Hutchinson (Minnesota 2 Energy Park) in Hutchinson, McLeod County, Minnesota appears in the sources this registry tracks. That is an absence in our sources rather than a finding that none exists, and local opposition often predates any coverage a national dataset would pick up.

If you live near this site and something is happening that this page does not show, that is worth telling us. Send us the document and it goes in the record with the source attached. For sites where opposition is already established, see every contested site we track.

A new status, a permit, a reception finding, or a lawsuit. Nothing else, ever.

Power and water

Power Purchase Agreement approved by Hutchinson Utilities Commission on September 24, 2025 under a new Large Power Customer Tariff. The load is interruptible and ramps with market prices. Power is bought wholesale from MISO on a separate commercial pricing node. No backup generators are in the CUP site plan.

The city/HUC FAQ describes a pure air-cooled system. Water and sewer use is minimal (bathrooms and maintenance only).

Notes on the record

7,500 sq ft building, with room on the site for expansion to about 15,000 sq ft. Jobs are described as 'minimal, less then 5', so 4 is a ceiling reading and may be lower. The city's FAQ calls it a data center. It is classified as crypto mining from Baxtel's listing and the interruptible, price-responsive load. The city gave no financial incentives.

What the record does not establish, and the document that would

  • Land area
  • How the community has received it

Land area
The rezoning application, the plat, or the deed recorded with the county.
How the community has received it
Planning commission and governing body minutes, public comment records, and any petition or lawsuit filed in the county.

Distances are between recorded coordinates, many of which are a city or county centroid, so treat them as approximate. Cumulative load on one utility and one aquifer is the question a planning commission rarely asks.
